Ailton Krenak is a renowned Brazilian Indigenous leader, environmental activist, philosopher, and writer, internationally recognized for his lifelong advocacy for Indigenous rights and environmental justice. A pivotal figure in Brazil’s democratic transition, he played a key role in securing Indigenous rights in the country’s 1988 Constitution and became the first Indigenous person to address the National Congress, a landmark moment in the history of Indigenous representation in Brazilian public life.

Through his writing, Krenak has reached readers around the world with profound reflections on humanity’s relationship with nature, community, and ancestral wisdom. His acclaimed books, including Ideas to Postpone the End of the World and Life Is Not Useful, challenge dominant notions of progress and invite new ways of imagining our place within the living world.
